Great Location!
We were in town for a wedding. The Oglethorpe Lodge has a great location. It is on block off the river. You can basically walk all over Savannah from here. The rooms are modern, clean and quite comfortable. We also took advantage of the courtyard to meet up with the rest of our group in the evenings. We also had a parking spot with our room which worked out quite well when we did decide to drive. Overall, I would highly recommend this to anybody wanting to stay in the Historic district. -- Pam (Suite: 901)
Excellent Location!
For the price, this place can't be beat. The location is excellent, I'd say 9.5 out of 10! It's spacious enough to comfortably house a large family...for us seven guys it was tight but totally manageable. The quality was a tad bit lackluster (carpets are old, kitchen is pretty simple, one shower is really tiny) but nothing really to complain about. You won't get extravagance at such a great price. The little details were great though. Well managed...they offer three nice flat screen TVs with good service, great wifi including backup router, memory foam mattresses (!), tons of extra pillows, towels and bed sheets. The only negative during our stay was a weak central AC unit which made the first night and part of the second day quite tough. But the management responded quickly to our complaints and got things fixed well for the rest of our stay. In summary: great service/details, decent physical space, excellent location! -- Maxwell (Suite: 902)
Our Daughter’s Wedding
We stayed here for our daughter's wedding weekend. We rented the all three units. My wife, daughter and I stayed in the middle floor Suite 902. The groom and the best man stayed in the top floor Suite 903 until after the wedding. My wife's sister and family stayed in the first floor Suite 901. The courtyard was a great meeting place for everyone to gather. This is a great place for destination weddings or if a family wants to stay in one location with separate space. We also loved the location. It is close to all the activities of Savannah. We would definitely stay here the next time we are in Savannah. The owners also provided folding tables and a large cooler to help with the entertaining of everyone during the evenings. They were very helpful with all the planning and special requests. -- Greg (Suite: 902)
Great Location, Great Room!
We spent a week here in June and loved it. The location is right in the heart of Savannah. You are so close to restaurants, shops, and history that you never have to worry about running out of things to do. We enjoyed having a cup of coffee in the morning either in the courtyard or the living room and planning our day. The kitchen in the room is great for making meals and it is nice to have the refrigerator to store some leftovers. We loved our stay here and are looking forward to coming back during or next trip to Savannah! -- Will (Suite: 903)
Anniversary
The accommodations were perfect. We stayed the first weekend of April. Before we even entered the place I was already excited about having our own parking spot. Parking is tough in Savannah and that was nice to have for free. Once inside it was clean and spacious. The cost was actually cheaper than most hotels and the location was wonderful. It's right on Bay street which is 1 minute walk to River street and the old market was right behind us. It was also a stop across the street from us that is on the historic tour which allowed is to hop the bus several times and catch a ride to wherever we wanted to go throughout savannah. -- Ken (Suite: 901)
Great Place
This is a great place. Very clean, great location. I will stay there again. -- Faith (Suite: 902)
A Very Pleasant Experience
A perfect location for all the downtown sights. We had a late arrival but security code on door was perfect. The unit is very spacious with a full kitchen 2 bedrooms 2 full baths. Very clean and modern . (Air conditioner is incredible for those hot Savannah days). Again, the location could not have been better! Staff could not have been more professional and courteous! Any needs were a phone call away. Would stay again in the future! -- Faith (Suite: 902)
Nice Time in Old Savannah
Indeed, a great place to stay! Entire suite was very nice. Wasn't sure 'bout the security of the location as you have to enter between an alley way and parking garage and stayed on ground floor, we never felt unsafe. Entrance door and a suite lock. Secluded patio with a 10 ft. tall brick wall. But who would mess with 3 Alabama redneck and 2 Georgia cracker girls? Was thoroughly pleased with accommodations. -- Sali (Suite: 901)
Great Place to Stay
We absolutely LOVE the Oglethorpe Lodge and look forward to many return trips! My husband and I stayed on the top floor. We had absolutely no trouble finding the Lodge, or parking there for the week. We were able to walk everywhere and enjoy all that Savannah has to offer and felt very safe in the area. Our parents joined us on the weekend and stayed in Suite 902 and Suite 901. The Lodge Management let us borrow a large cooler and two fold-out tables to host a brunch for my brother's birthday, on the weekend! It was great having a small kitchen to cook in and the courtyard was the perfect place for us all to hang out. We look forward to going back soon and am recommending it to family friends who are getting married in Savannah next Spring! -- Kelly (Suite: 903)
We will return!
Loved the location!!! The price is great for one of the best spots in town. Parking is very convenient also. Be advised, the kitchen has a very limited selection of cooking supplies. If you are planning on cooking your meals, you may want to inquire about the specific items provided in your suite. If you plan on bringing your own beverages, you will find plenty of glasses, ice, and refrigerator space. The beds are very comfortable with plenty of fluffy pillows and blankets. The bath towels are very soft and big. They were comparable to luxury hotel towels. I would really like to see privacy blinds in the ground floor kitchen windows when we return. The view of the patio is pleasant, however it would be nice to freely enjoy the suite without being on display for the other guests on the patio. This lodge is an incredible value. We are looking forward to our next visit. -- Casey (Suite: 901)
Location, Location, Location
We have stayed in Savannah several times before but have never had a better location. The lodge is across the street from the middle of River Street and only a few blocks from the City Market. While the building is a little dated it was very clean, well stocked with toiletries and comfortable foam mattresses. The kitchen could have been a little more stocked with pots, pans, and bowls but we made do. When returning to Savannah we would be happy to stay here again. -- Ron (Suite: 901)
Wonderful!
My wife and I were visiting Savannah and we stayed at the Hyatt. Our friends however stayed at Oglethorpe Lodge. When we visited them we were so jealous. The place was wonderful. It has a delightful outdoor garden and very roomy and super clean apartments. I will stay here next time. Can't wait for our next visit." -- (Suite: 901)
Girls Weekend
We spent two nights and had the best time! We are talking about doing it again! The place was clean and comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed it! -- Margie (Suite: 901)
Wedding Week
My family and in-laws each had a two bedroom suite the week of our wedding. At first we had the reservation with the previous owner. What frustration! We were so happy when it changed hands! They were so helpful with everything and even offered to put out extra tables for our catered BBQ rehearsal dinner in the courtyard of the apartments. It was easy to call them for extra towels, toilet paper, and ask questions about the reservations. We would definitely stay here again. The location is the best too! -- Kristen (Suite: 902)
Great Rooms!
We spent three nights, 3/24 - 3/27/2013, in suite 903. Having stayed at numerous hotels in Savannah over many years we were not sure what to expect at Oglethorpe Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised with the accommodations! The suite is huge - all rooms are oversized with high ceilings. The bed was quite comfortable and the kitchen was completely equipped, even coffee was supplied. I think our favorite feature is the inclusion of an extra half bath - extremely rare in a one bedroom unit but much appreciated. In recent years we always felt it necessary to request hotel rooms away from Bay Street as the traffic noise is disturbing day and night - it is still a main thoroughfare for many large trucks. The inclusion of an extra layer of glass and the presence of heavy drapes makes the outside noise almost inaudible. We will definitely plan our next trip around the availability calendar for this unit and we have already told several friends and family members to seriously consider it when going to Savannah. -- John and Jane (Suite: 903)
Great Location!
It was so nice being that close to everything. The only thing I probably would change was to stay on the ground floor. We had a wonderful weekend in our unit at Oglethorpe Lodge. Everything was very nice and the location was great. We will definitely contact you when we are coming to Savannah again. Again Thank You For a great location. --Louise (Suite: 902)
Perfect for Families
I've visited Savannah and Tybee Island since I was a kid. I now have grandkids. We prefer staying in the Historic District, within walking distance of many historic sites, restaurants, such as Paula Dean's; the Riverfront, where there are many shops, restaurants and entertainment, as well as Market Square a must see/visit. The Oglethorpe Lodge in the perfect location and provides perfect accommodations for a family of 4 or more; 2-bedrooms, plus sofa pull-out, 2-baths, full complement kitchen, right in the heart of the Historic District. The Oglethorpe Lodge is an excellent place to stay. --Bruce (Suite: 902)
St. Patrick’s Day Stay
We stayed at the Oglethorpe Lodge the Weekend of St Patrick's Day. Great location on the parade route. We stayed in the top floor suite and it was a great space. Full kitchen, living room, 1 bedroom and 1-1/2 baths. Plenty of room for my wife and myself. The rooms were exceptionally clean and very nice. We could walk to everything and spent the whole weekend exploring Savannah and enjoying the parade on the big day. When we return to Savannah we would definitely stay at the Lodge again. --Greg (Suite: 903)
Overnight Stay
I selected the lodge for an overnight stay in Savannah with a couple of girl friends so we could have space to visit and also each have our own bed. I was not disappointed. We were given a suite with 2 bedrooms, a living room with sofa bed, 1 1/2 baths, a kitchen and a parking space. The suite was in an old renovated building adjacent to a very modern Holiday Inn Express. The location in the historic district was perfect. We could walk to restaurants and most other places we wished to visit. The cost of the suite was reasonable. The only thing lacking was a view. --Fran (Suite: 901)
